GUINEA FOWLS REARING

Guinea fowl, sometimes known as guineas, are gamebirds that are becoming more and more popular with backyard and small flock keepers. The guinea bird is robust, resilient, and generally disease-free.

People keep guinea fowl for a variety of purposes. Every time something strange happens on the farm, the birds raise an alarm. Some consider this noise to be an annoyance, but others see it as a useful tool for safeguarding the farm and turn guinea fowl into “watchdogs” in the farmyard. It has also been demonstrated that the guineas’ loud noise deters rats from trespassing.
